Mr Oliver “Ollie” is an 8 year young, handsome Bernese Mix boy. This active, healthy 75lb boy had us all fooled as he has the spunk and playfulness of a 3 year old. He was found being dumped out of a car near a shelter, and staff had a hard time catching him as he chased after his people. Luckily, he made his way to us, and we believe he may be a Golden Mountain Dog (Golden Retriever and BMD) or possibly Bernese and Border Collie. What is indisputable is that he LOVES to play catch, and has a most favorite ball. Ollie loves car rides and walks, and simply to be with his people- and he is a big snuggle bug who will curl up with you too! His foster mom says he’s a gem- he’s extremely smart, loyal, and loving.
He is excellent with older kids, cats, and little dogs- but he would prefer to be the only male, or even would love being the only dog. This boy has a lot of love to give, and will be a loving companion. A fenced in yard is a requirement.
Oliver is fully vetted, UTD on his vaccines and prevention and ready to find his forever family.

THE FAB FIVE
On April 28th, we were notified of a severe neglect case in South Carolina, consisting of several dogs found in a foreclosed home, malnourished -with skin and ear infections, among other conditions. These dogs needed help, and with the support of the Bernese Mountain Dog community, a plan was hatched to get these sweet souls the help and care they so desperately needed. Nicknamed “The Fab Five,” we were determined to turn their lives around.
I can tell you it was one of the most endearing missions we’ve undergone to date. Wonderful volunteers made the arduous journey to safely bring these 2 boys, and 3 girls, to safety. Our gracious foster families opened their hearts and homes, knowing that the road ahead to getting these dogs healthy may be a difficult one. Honda and Bentley, our males, have severe skin dermatitis, now undergoing medicated bath soaks. Both are underweight, and while Honda is anemic, Bentley is hearing impaired, with limited sight and cataracts. Bentley also has malformed front legs due to malnutrition.
Our girls, Tesla, Mercedes, and Lexus, all have various skin conditions and ear infections, and have suffered from malnutrition.
With each dog adjusting and beginning to blossom with their foster family, and all having had their first vet appointments, it is clear that these dogs have suffered far too long. We’ve seen their true personalities begin to emerge, and it’s evident that through all the neglect, all these dogs want to provide, and receive, is love.
We are seeking donations to help cover the vet care, and mounting costs of getting The Fab Five healthy. Our rescue certainly wasn’t prepared for them, but we are commited to getting them healthy, happy, and into the loving forever homes they deserve. These babies will be available for adoption once they are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and healthy.
We will post updates on our Facebook page, so please be sure to follow us! In advance, we THANK YOU, for your help, support, and generosity to saving the Fab Five!

Upcoming Berners into Rescue
There are always Berners that are coming into our program, and behind the scenes this keeps us all very busy! Even if we do not have a Berner currently posted, you may still submit an application to be considered for a future rescue in need of a loving home.
Please be patient with us as we work to find these wonderful dogs appropriate foster homes, and ultimately make them available for their forever families. We will post available dogs on this site as soon as we have an idea of temperament and disposition to make them available for adoption. Please continue to check back frequently for updates and postings!
If you are interested in adopting an available dog that you see on this page, or would like to be considered for a future dog, please submit an adoption application. We do adopt out of state. All applicants must have a physical fenced in yard, and require a home check!
All Berners are fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and parasite prevention.
Our adoption application can be found on our website: www.michiganberneserescue.org
